The Minister of Social Security sworn in this Tuesday (3), Carlos Lupi, said during his speech that the government needs to discuss what he classified as “anti-reform of Social Security”, in reference to the changes to the social security system carried out in 2019.
“I want to form a quadripartite commission, with workers’ unions, employers’ unions, retirees and the government. We need to discuss in depth what this anti-pension reform was, ”he said.
Lupi also added that the government wants all the collection that is constitutionally allocated to the social security system to enter the INSS balance sheet and that it will prove that the Social Security is not in deficit.
“Social security is not in deficit, I will prove it every day that I have this ministry and I will prove it with numbers, with data with information. I already asked for this yesterday, we are going to create a transparency portal, we are all going to show me publicly how many retirees, pensioners, or pension beneficiaries, from the BPC, are those who are sick.”
According to Lupi, there will be a “transparency portal” for social security. “Every month I want to have a panel with information month by month, for the population to charge me. Because when they charge me I feel motivated.”
Social Security queue
Lupi also stated that he wants to end the social security queue “in record time”. “My place is to put an end to this social security queue that destroys citizenship. I want to end this queue in record time, and for that I will need the help of mayors and governors.”
The new minister also highlighted that he should review the interest charged to retirees, which is “a humiliation”. We cannot charge the interest rates that are charged to retirees. It’s unfair! I can’t accept seeing the humiliation that our retirees are going through. 60% of small town halls receive, they only live and survive because of the money from retirees and pensioners, how can you not have respect for these people?”.
Executive Secretary
Federal deputy Wolney Queiroz (PDT-PE) will be the executive secretary of the Ministry of Social Security. His name was announced by the ministry minister, Carlos Lupi, who is also president of the PDT.
“A friend of struggle and militancy for 35 years in the PDT, whom I invited to be executive secretary of the Ministry, and he accepted, which is Wolney Queiroz”, said Lupi during the ceremony of transferring his position in the portfolio, in Brasília .
Queiroz was, last year, leader of the opposition to former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the Chamber of Deputies. Deputy since 1995, he was previously councilor for the Pernambuco municipality of Caruaru.
