LAST UPDATE: 11:29

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in southern Turkey on Saturday as part of efforts by the two neighboring countries to improve relations after decades of hostility, according to Reuters.

The heads of diplomacy of the two countries met at the diplomatic forum in Antalya. Turkey has not had diplomatic or trade ties with Armenia since the 1990s, but the two countries began talks in January in a first attempt to re-establish ties after the 2009 peace deal, which was never ratified.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu said he had a very productive and constructive meeting with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.
