New Tesla Semi electric truck spotted on California roads

Another Tesla Semi electric truck prototype has been spotted in California, which confirms that Tesla is preparing to move to mass production later this year.

Previously, the Tesla Semi electric truck was seen being transported in Sacramento, and later seen on the road in Illinois. The car was unveiled in 2017 and the company took prototypes around the US to do real-life road tests and show them to customers who had reserved an electric truck.

Introducing the Tesla Semi, the automaker said the electric truck will be available in 2019. After several delays, Tesla started talking about “low production volumes at the end of 2020”, but later the release date was postponed to 2021.

Tesla recently announced that the electric truck will go into production this year, with pre-order customers starting to receive the Tesla Semi by the end of 2021.

Tesla founder Elon Musk revealed the capacity of the Tesla Semi battery in a recent interview, confirming that the base version of the Tesla Semi will have a 500 kWh battery. He added that a version with an increased range will appear after the release of the base version.
