New “trouble” with AstraZeneca vaccine: Pharmaceutical industry to update data

Once again the AstraZeneca vaccine raises concerns, this time about how the pharmaceutical industry presented its data in a press release this week.

After the concern expressed by the independent US commission overseeing clinical trials, top U.S. health official Dr. Anthony Fauci said today that the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19 is probably very good.

For its part, AstraZeneca recently announced that it will provide the US committee with its most up-to-date data.

“This is probably a very good vaccine,” he told ABC News’ “Good Morning America.” Fauci, medical adviser to President Joe Biden for Covid-19 and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

However, he added, the Data Control and Security Committee (DSMB) “expressed its concern” that the data in the AstraZeneca public statement “was somewhat outdated and could indeed be a bit misleading”.

THE AstraZeneca announced in the meantime today, after the doubts expressed by the American commission, that it will inform it of its most updated data, according to the Athens News Agency.

The Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company clarified that the data presented yesterday, Monday, was based on an analysis up to the date of February 17 and added that it has examined the preliminary assessment and has found that it agrees with its provisional report.
