The Chinese armed forces announced today the construction of new military high schools near the Taiwan as a group of American parliamentarians is visiting this island, which is claimed by Chinaand met with President Tsai Ing-wen, violating, according to Beijing, its sovereignty.
The five US congressmen, led by Senator Ed Markey, arrived in Taipei late yesterday, Sunday, in an unannounced visit. This is the second group of high-ranking American officials visiting the island after the visit of the president of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi in early August, which had again sparked Chinese military drills that had lasted several days.
The relevant Chinese military command announced that it has organized cross-branch combat readiness patrols and combat exercises for today in the sea and airspace around Taiwan.

China’s Ministry of Defense said in a separate statement that the US lawmakers’ visit violates China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and “fully exposes the true face of the United States as a destroyer and destroyer of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”

Taiwan’s Prime Minister Su Cheng-Shang said he would not be deterred by China’s reaction to such visits by foreign friends.
“We can’t just do nothing because we have a bad neighbor next door and not dare to allow visitors or friends to come,” he told reporters.
The US congressional delegation visiting Taiwan was scheduled to meet with President Tsai this morning. Her office has yet to comment on the meeting.
