Earlier this month, Huawei unveiled the new HarmonyOS 2.0 operating system, as well as new versions of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40E, Mate X2 and Nova 8 Pro smartphones that only support 4G networks.
Huawei announced that buyers will be able to purchase the new Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40E and Nova 8 Pro in China tomorrow, June 18th. The peculiarity of these versions of Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40E is that they run HarmonyOS 2.0 out of the box. Huawei Nova 8 Pro 4G comes preloaded with EMUI 11.
Price of new models:
- Huawei Mate 40 Pro 4G with 8/128 GB costs $ 945, with 8/256 GB – $ 1025
- Huawei Mate 40E 4G with 8/128 GB costs $ 650, with 8/256 GB – $ 730
- Huawei Nova 8 Pro 4G with 8/128 GB costs $ 575, with 8/256 GB – $ 635
In less than a week, HarmonyOS 2.0 has already been installed on 10 million smartphones in China – and the transition from Android and EMUI 11 to HarmonyOS 2.0 happens as a regular firmware update. And, as it turned out, HarmonyOS 2.0 takes up much less space than EMUI 11. Also yesterday we posted a video in which iOS 15 and HarmonyOS 2.0 were compared in terms of speed and smoothness.
Wang Chenglu, President of Huawei Consumer Business Group’s Software Development Department, said 360 million smartphones, tablets and IoT devices will be running the new Harmony OS 2.0 operating system by the end of the calendar year.
