A new video obtained by CNN Shows the drunk driver driving a luxury car at high speed running over a 74 -year -old man, identified as Luís Antônio Previatello. The case took place on April 30, at Rua Calábria, in the Parque Novo Oratory neighborhood, in Santo André, in ABC Paulista.
In the images of a security camera you can see the red Audi accelerating when trying to make a conversion when a bus passed. In an attempt to cross the way in front of the collective, he accelerates and hits the elderly who was sitting on the sidewalk. Watch the video:
The Fire Department was fired at 6:35 am and found the death of Luís Antônio at the site, which was confirmed by Samu. After being run over, the driver tried to escape, but was prevented by neighbors.
The Military Police found that the driver, identified as Eloi Henrique Guimarães, 39, had “obvious signs of drunkenness,” such as dragged, ethyl odor and reddish eyes, as well as aggressive behavior.
At the crime scene, the police also found a bottle of partially consumed whiskey inside Audi.
Initially, he refused to take the blood test for alcohol, but then agreed, and the clinical examination at the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) confirmed the drunkenness. After the evidence, Eloi confessed to the police that he used cocaine and drinking alcohol at dawn on the day of the accident.
The police report also points out that Audi was late and that four traffic assessments were drawn up against the driver for several infractions. The driver had a previous criminal point and was in conditional deliverance. The vehicle was seized and taken to the municipal courtyard.
Eloi Henrique Guimarães was arrested in the act for manslaughter and guilty bodily injury towards a motor vehicle, qualified by drunk driving.
According to the São Paulo Court of Justice, the driver’s arrest was converted into preventive after a custody hearing held on April 1st.
The case was registered in the 2nd Police District of Santo André and is still under investigation by the Civil Police.
