New Windows 10 build brings desktop customization, new File Explorer and Auto HDR

Yesterday, March 17, Microsoft employees released a new build of the Windows 10 operating system with index 21337 for members of the Windows Insider program who are using the developer version of the system. In the new assembly, numerous problems and bugs were fixed, but, of course, users were not left without innovations either.

Customizing virtual desktops

Users have repeatedly asked Microsoft to expand the functionality of customizing the virtual desktop, and in the new version of the OS for developers, this request has been fulfilled. Users can now change the order of the virtual desktops (previously this feature was not implemented in any way) and set a separate wallpaper for each of the workspaces. It is worth noting that the wallpaper will be displayed both on the desktop itself and on the thumbnail in the list.

Auto HDR

Also, PC owners get access to Auto HDR technology, which is implemented on the next generation consoles from Microsoft. Thanks to the innovation, if the hardware component of the user’s computer supports HDR, then the activation of the new function will allow you to get a more attractive picture in a thousand games with support for DirectX 11 and DirectX 12. However, the developers noted that this is only a preliminary version of the function, which will still be refined.

Updated “Explorer”

The classic “Explorer” in Windows 10 has not received new features, but its layout has been slightly updated, with increased spacing between elements. However, the user may well switch to the original format of the application by activating the “Compact mode” in the settings. The developers themselves argue that the increase in indents is more convenient when working with a touch screen – there will be fewer false positives and clicks past the desired element.

Updated subtitle settings

The subtitle settings page in the “Options” has become more convenient, but the developers noted that there may be problems with returning to the default settings – they are already working on this.
