São Paulo coast
On the coast of São Paulo, part of the fireworks display was cancelled, surprising tourists who went to the region for the celebration, as the city halls of Guarujá and Praia Grande made the announcements on Sunday night (31).
“According to the technicians of the company hired to carry out the pyrotechnic show with the support of the ferries, the geographical conditions, of open sea, on the edge of Pitangueiras (where the main attractions would take place), reinforce the need for cancellation, recommended by the Captaincy dos Portos”, described the statement from the city of Guarujá.
At Mirante da Campina, on Perequê beach and in squares 14 Bis and Mário Covas the show was held.
In Santos, the city hall reported that a cold front caused a high tide and strong rip currents that changed the direction of the winds, causing agitation in the sea where the ferries with the fireworks would be positioned.
As a result, there were changes to six of the ten vessels that were planned.
Even so, the 14-minute show livened up the city's party, which honored singer Rita Lee with a tribute from the Santos Symphony Orchestra, singer Débora Reis and the rocker's son.
