New Year’s Eve 2024: the most sought after destinations by Brazilians

The end of the year is approaching and Brazilians are ready to jump the seven waves. This is what a survey by the online tourism agency ViajaNet points out, which determined the volume of packages (tickets and hotels) for trips between December 23rd and January 1st, 2024 . These are the beach destinations within Brazil that dominated the top of the list to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

The preference for the coast is typical of the time, but the inclination is towards national trips, which fit the budget, was also shared by the survey by the travel metasearch engine Kayak, which also indicated that the North East It is among the most sought after and desired destinations in 2023.

“This year, domestic flights broke a record in passenger transport volume since 2015. People want to get to know their own country, buying in advance and researching offers. And this movement also impacts the hotel sector, because, in addition to the ticket, the consumer is interested in the most advantageous accommodation”, says Daniely de Oliveira, CMO of ViajaNet.

A survey by Booking.com, one of the largest accommodation booking sites, revealed that by 2024, travelers also want to optimize their holidays combining value and luxury . More than 50% of respondents plan to travel to destinations close to home or more economical than their home regions. They seek an “affordable luxury” experience, wanting to enhance their journey without compromising their budget.

The most popular destinations for Brazilians, according to ViajaNet, include:

New Year’s Eve in the Northeast: Porto de Galinhas (Pernambuco) and Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) lead the way, together representing 16% of tourist package sales.

New Year in New York: With 5% of searches, New York, in the United States, comes in third place, attracting those who prefer the cold climate.

Gramado, between Christmas and New Year: With the same percentage of searches as the American metropolis, there is Gramado, offering a national destination with a colder climate and Christmas shows.

Rio de Janeiro, Punta Cana and Riviera Maya (Mexico): Representing 5% of air ticket and accommodation sales, these beach destinations share their position with Gramado.

Buenos Aires, Argentina: Representing South America, Buenos Aires appears with 4% of preferences. Among the ten most sought after destinations for 2023, according to Kayak, only two are abroad, including Buenos Aires.

Ilhéus, Bahia: Also representing 4% of searches, Ilhéus is known for its extensive coastline in the state of Bahia.

Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná: In tenth place, not far from Argentina and Ilhéus, Foz do Iguaçu ends the list of the most sought after destinations.
