Hotels RIO, the Patronal Union of all types of accommodation in the city of Rio de Janeiro, released details of how the fireworks will be displayed in two of the city’s noblest areas: Barra da Tijuca and Recreio.
The two regions are located more than 23 kilometers from Copacabana beach and have beautiful beaches, sought after by many tourists. They are included among the ten places in the capital that will have shows in the sky to celebrate the arrival of 2022.
The colors of the fireworks will signify hope and gratitude, according to the person responsible for organizing the show, businessman André Lanza. According to him, this is the time to celebrate the hope of better days after more than a year in which the world faces a pandemic.
“Red represents the love we have for people; with silver and white we allude to the peace we want to have between us. Gold and yellow, on the other hand, signify the prosperity necessary for us to have a good quality of life”, explained Lanza.
The cost of the New Year’s Eve party in Rio will be R$15.142 million, with the city hall paying most of the bill and only R$3 million will come from two sponsors.
The account also takes into account more than R$ 4 million spent on ferries, of which ten will be in Copacabana and another three on Flamengo beach, in the south. The shows in Rio are sponsored by Sesc and Águas do Rio.
The value was closed last Tuesday (28) with the last contract that was missing: half of the fireworks points. The municipality set aside R$ 350,000 as a form of financial support for the Union of Hotels and Accommodation in Rio de Janeiro, which will promote the fireworks show in Barra da Tijuca and Recreio.
edge inspection
As in Copacabana, the main point of New Year’s Eve in Rio, the Fire Department carried out inspections at the kiosks on the entire Rio coast, including Barra and Recreio, to verify the safety conditions against fire and panic.
hotel occupancy
According to data from the Union of Means of Accommodation of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro (Hotels RIO), Barra da Tijuca has already confirmed almost 90% of accommodation in the hotel chain. The president of Hotéis RIO, Alfredo Lopes, is betting that the result will be even better: “We are going to reach 100% in most hotels in the region, the numbers point to that”, he says.
