Walk by New York It’s like feeling like you’re in a movie. Not only because of its historic buildings or the possibility of bumping into several movie stars, but because the city has effectively served as the setting for countless productions over the years.

Buildings, museums, libraries, parks and hotels have become almost characters from famous films and series and, consequently, true tourist attractions for fans.

After all, who has never imagined themselves eating the same pizza they saw in a film, going to the restaurant in a classic scene or even walking in front of a store in a work that marked their childhood? New York is a perfect place for this.

Grand Central Terminal


New York Central Station

THE Grand Central Terminal is one of the most famous stations in the world, serving as an important transport hub and connecting millions of passengers via metro and trains.

In addition to a terminal, Grand Central is a popular tourist spot with shops, restaurants and cultural exhibits. Opened in 1913, its architecture includes a ceiling with celestial designs and stained glass windows.

The film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”, the animation “Madagascar” and the feature film “Men in Black” are some of the examples that used the season as a backdrop for sequences. Another scene at the station that stood out was the opening of the 1st season of the series “Gossip Girl”, when the character Serena van der Woodsen arrives in New York.

The exterior of the building was part of one of the most famous scenes from “The Avengers”, when all the heroes gather before returning to battle.

New York is also a paradise for lovers of the series “Sex and the City”. With six seasons recorded in the city, it is expected that in every corner you will come across something that has already served as a backdrop for the series.

But one of the most iconic locations is the apartment of the character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Although in fiction she lived on the Upper West Side, the building’s facade is in the West Village neighborhood.

It is not possible to enter the apartment, but it is worth visiting the region to see the building up close, see the street she walked so many times and, as a bonus, stop by the Magnolia Bakery – a bakery frequented by the four friends throughout the series.

Still doesn’t look familiar? You may remember the place when you discover that it was there that the character Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), from “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”, stays in a luxurious suite after losing his family.

The hotel was also home to the little character Eloise, from the book of the same name and which became a film, called “Eloise no Plaza”. The story was so successful that you can find tributes to it in the hallways.

In “Spider-Man,” Joe’s Pizza on Bleecker Street was where Peter Parker, played by Tobey Maguire, worked as a delivery man. In one scene, he makes a hurried delivery and it is possible to see the very explicit facade.

The place is also frequented by celebrities and it is possible to find records of several illustrious visits on the walls.

A toy store that attracts both children and adults, this is the FAO Schwarz . The decor, wide selection of games, and interactive experiences make the store a must-see in New York.

It is in this store that Tom Hanks’ character in the film “I Want to Be Big” gives a performance on the giant piano. The address also appears in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York”, when Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) explores the store and becomes enchanted with the toys.

Katz’s gained notoriety in cinema after one of the most famous scenes in “Harry and Sally – Made for Each Other”. And if you’re a fan of the film, know that you can sit at exactly the same table where the characters talked. The queue is long, especially on weekends, but the wait is worth it for movie buffs.

THE American Museum of Natural History is known for its collections that range from dinosaur fossils to the cultures of different peoples. This is where the film “Night at the Museum” takes place, in which a night guard, played by Ben Stiller, discovers that the collection comes to life at night. The film combines adventure and comedy, using the museum’s diverse collections as a backdrop.
