“The news of this week’s data release lowered the immediate forecast for 2021: the second quarter by 0.3%,” the New York Fed explained in its release. “A negative surprise from the housing construction data drove the decline.”
Market reaction
This report does not appear to have a noticeable impact on the performance of the dollar against its rivals. At time of writing, the US Dollar Index was up 0.23% on the day at 89.95.
