The New York Prosecutor General Leticia James appealed to the US Congress with an appeal to adopt new federal laws that will provide more stringent rules for the cryptocurrency industry.

In contacting the leader of the republican majority in the Senate, John Thune and the speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, Letitia James said that American cryptoinvestors need urgent and reliable protection against fraud and financial risks.

“Thousands of investors in New York and throughout the country lost millions of dollars due to fraud and cryptocurrency scams that could be prevented with the help of tougher federal rules,” James said.

She proposed to establish the minimum standards for listing of crypto assets to increase the security of the market, as well as introduce requirements for the mandatory registration of all crypto companies in the federal regulatory authority before they are allowed to maintain users.

Earlier, special adviser to the law firm Cooley, Rodrigo Seira, said that the regulatory framework for the control of securities is not suitable for the digital asset industry in the United States.
