The informal five -member meeting on the Cyprus issue, organized by UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres in New York, was completed shortly after midnight. The meeting was attended by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, the Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, as well as representatives of the three guarantor forces – Greece, Turkey and the United Kingdom. Referring to “catalytic” discussions on the Cyprus issue, Mr Guterres announced on Thursday that four of the six earlier agreed confidence building measures have already been implemented, with technical work on the other two. At the same time, the sides agreed to broaden cooperation on youth, environment, culture and civil society.
