New York Times: The new trade agreement with China marks for the US to return to the starting point

After two days of intense negotiations from the United States and China, they reached an agreement in the early hours of Wednesday in London and lifted some “harmful” measures used in the recent trade dispute of the two countries. However, Ana Swanson of the New York Times reports that it remains unclear whether this truce will last – or collapse as it happened with a similar agreement made in May. While explaining that even if the deal proves to be durable, its greatest achievement seems to be simply the restoration of countries to the situation before Trump increased tariffs on Chinese products in April.
