Measures by the Biden government

The Biden administration has announced a third set of measures in response to growing violence against Asian Americans, including $ 49.5 million in funding for the Covid-19 pandemic for community aid programs. “We cannot remain silent in the face of growing violence against Asian Americans,” President Joe Biden wrote on Twitter. “These attacks are inappropriate, anti-American and must stop,” he added.
The measures were taken after gun attacks in Atlanta in March that left eight dead, six of them Asian-American. The attacks sparked fears in the ranks of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, which has seen an increase in hate crimes since March 2020, when then-President Donald Trump began calling the new coronavirus a “Chinese virus.”
The Biden government measures include providing $ 49.5 million in pandemic funding for “community services and programs for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault,” as well as setting up a new working group to work on combating xenophobia against Asian Americans in healthcare.
The justice ministry is also planning new efforts to enforce hate crime laws and publish data on racial crimes, the statement said.
