For more than 2 months o mayor of Heimarra, Fredi Beleris, has been in prison for 67 days.
According to the latest information, the appeal of the mayor Freddy Beleris, through which he requested his release, was rejected. The decision of the Albanian judiciary was once again negative, as the judge rejected the appeal and decided not to change the pre-trial detention measure.
The Beleris defense, citing health reasons, had requested the abolition of his pre-trial detention status and its replacement with other security measures, specifically with mandatory attendance at a police station.
Freddy Belleri’s brother, Leonardos, spoke to “Socionia Ora MEGA”, for the illegal detention of the mayor of Heimarra.
“At the moment I am also in Himarra. I had a chance after 67 days to see my brother, I saw him yesterday. He’s in good shape, he’s watching everything, he’s fighting from prison. Next week we will have a hearing regarding the pre-trial detention measures that the lawyers have made so that he can be released so that he can be sworn in and slowly begin to exercise his duties as mayor,” he initially said.
“This is the last chance because then things get complicated. We are entering the summer season and everything will start to malfunction, we will go far behind”, added Mr. Beleris.
“We are all optimistic, we believe that at some point Albania too will operate with laws and rules as a rule of law, so we think that at some point his struggle and the people who voted for him will be vindicated”.
“Various actions have been taken on the part of Greece at the highest level. Today in Heimarra at 1:30 p.m. we have a meeting with Mr. Kefalogiannis who is the president for Albania’s accession to the EU. You have also seen the resolution from the European Parliament, the matter has become international and we hope that Freddy Beleris will be vindicated at some point”, concluded the brother of the mayor of Heimarra.
