NGO Gerando Falcões launches educational game against poverty in the metaverse

Gerando Falcões became the first NGO to use the metaverse for social impact. The entity launched the game “Missão Favela X” in Ferraz de Vasconcelos, in Greater São Paulo. The initiative has a partnership with Accenture.

The project’s objective is to educate young people and children about the challenges of eradicating poverty through infrastructure, basic sanitation, education, culture and technology. With this, the initiative aims to raise awareness among the future generation and raise funds to accelerate the transformation of favelas.

The application is available on a social gaming platform within the virtual environment.

“The game Favela X will be used with a social bias to eradicate poverty. And social innovation and technology are essential to this challenge. Many people only know the favela through the car window, and now players of all classes and regions will face, through their computer or cell phone screens, inconveniences that vulnerable people face in their daily realities”, explains Edu Lyra, CEO and founder of Generating Falcons.

“There are almost 14 thousand favelas in Brazil, and this is the great chance we have to do something that can change the future of its residents, especially the future of children and young people”, he continues.

The measure is part of the Favela X Mission, an institutional campaign that attracts donors, raising funds to finance cutting-edge technology and innovations for communities.

“The metaverse is one of the trends that will change the world the most, more than our lives have already changed. Being in this virtual world brings many opportunities”, explains Leonardo Framil, president of Accenture in Latin America.
