Nick Cave on King Charles’ coronation – ‘I feel an inexplicable connection with him’

Despite the criticism leveled by his fans for his decision to be at his coronation King Charles III of the United Kingdom, Nick Cave he stressed that he would normally “attend”.

On Saturday the late queen’s son Elizabeth B‘, will be crowned King of the United Kingdom, while his wife, Camilawill be crowned queen.

Among the guests expected to attend the historic ceremony is the Australian singer Nick Cavewho justified his appearance by saying he has “an inexplicable emotional connection to the royal family.”

In the latest edition of its newsletter Red Hand Filesin which he answers questions from fans, the rock singer-songwriter revealed that he has received several hostile messages questioning his alleged support for the monarchy.

“I am not pro-monarchist, nor pro-royalty, nor an ardent republican for that matter. I’m also not so spectacularly curious about the world and how it works, so ideologically captive, so damned grumpy, to turn down an invitation to what will probably be the most important historical event in United Kingdom of your time,” Cave wrote in response to a fan’s question about “why he’ll be attending the coronation.”

“I guess what I’m trying to say is that, beyond the endless but necessary discussions about the abolition of the monarchy, I retain an inexplicable emotional connection to the royals – their strange nature, the deeply eccentric nature of the case, which reflects so perfectly the unique strangeness of Britain itself”, as reported by the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.
