A new series of “The Fairly OddParents” has been ordered by Nickelodeon, according to Variety.
“Fairly OddParents: A New Wish” will feature the voices of the original English voice actors from the first series, Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Harris as Wanda and Cosmo, respectively.
Nickelodeon has ordered 20 episodes of the new animated series, which is expected to debut on the US cable TV channel in the first half of this year. And then it should arrive on the Netflix streaming platform.
The new main character, who will take Timmy Turner's place, will be Hazel Wells, voiced in English by Ashleigh Crystal Hairston.
According to the series synopsis, Hazel Wells is a ten-year-old girl who has just moved to the big city of Dimmadelphia because of her father's new job. In addition to being in an unfamiliar environment, it is the first time that she has been without her brother, Antony, who has just left for college, leaving her alone and insecure.
All this changes when the pink and green haired neighbors reveal that they are not ordinary neighbors… they are Cosmo and Wanda, fairy godparents! And they're coming out of retirement to fulfill Hazel's every wish.
The series is co-executive produced by David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Hairston and Daniel Abramovici. Butch Hartman, the creator of the original series, will also executive produce along with Fred Seibert, who was the executive producer of the original series.
