The musician and actor Weston Cage son of the artist Nicolas Cage 60, voluntarily turned himself in to Los Angeles police in the United States on Wednesday (10) after an incident earlier this year. He is 33 years old and is the star’s eldest son.
According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Weston allegedly “assaulted two victims multiple times, causing injuries.”
“The LAPD responded and, after meeting with all parties, prepared a police report,” the statement read.
The case was then presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office last month, and “two counts of assault with a deadly weapon were filed against Cage, leading to a felony arrest warrant and bail set at US$150,000 (or R$720,000), the statement said.
In a statement sent to CNN on Friday (12), Weston’s mother, Christina Fulton said: “On April 28, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage, about his deteriorating mental state, asking me to come and help him. By the time I arrived to offer support and comfort, he was already in the midst of a manic episode. Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and seriously injured.”
“Despite my desperate pleas to the responding officers to detain him for a mental health evaluation, the officers refused my request and neglected my urgent need for medical attention,” Fulton continued.
“As a mother, I am deeply saddened and concerned about the mental health crisis Weston’s ongoing struggle. It is imperative that he receives the help he so desperately needs.”
