At least 58 people killed yesterday Monday (15/3) armed men in a part of the southwest Niger, where Islamist fighters repeatedly launch attacks on civilians and the army, announced the government, as broadcast by APE-MPE.
The attacks took place in the Tilaberi area, which is close to the border with Mali and Burkina Faso, the government said in a statement today.
Fighters allegedly killed at least 100 civilians on January 2 in raids on two villages in Tilamberi, in one of the deadliest attacks in the country’s recent history.
Most of the fighters operating in the area affiliated with al Qaeda or the Islamic State jihadist organization.
