Nigerian Presidential Candidate Will Support the Development of the Cryptocurrency Industry

Nigerian presidential candidate Bukola Saraki has said he will support the digital currency industry, which creates new opportunities for the country’s younger generation of citizens.

Bukola Saraki in conversation about the current challenges facing Nigeria, said that he sees no problems for the country’s economy in the development of the cryptocurrency sector. He believes that this will help, especially the younger generation, in creating new jobs and opportunities.

“I don’t think cryptocurrencies will destroy the economy. I support everything that creates jobs and favorable conditions for people doing their own business,” said Saraki.

He noted that, as in any of the new sectors, participants in the cryptocurrency industry must work in a well-managed environment where clear and understandable rules are formulated.

Legislative and political control is also needed to ensure that there is no abuse in the process of using crypto assets. According to Saraki, the state should pass laws that prevent the use of cryptocurrencies for money laundering and terrorist financing.

Earlier this month, the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) changed the registration process for digital asset platforms (DAOPs), service providers (VASPs) and exchanges offering digital assets in the form of securities.
