As expected, Nikon has unveiled the Nikkor Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S full-frame super-telephoto lens designed for mirrorless cameras of the Nikon Z system. In the description of the novelty, the manufacturer notes that it is about 48% lighter and 16% shorter than its F-mount counterpart. The use of a phase Fresnel lens (PF) made it possible to reduce the size and weight – such a solution, which has already been found in Nikkor lenses for SLR cameras, is found in Nikkor lenses for mirrorless cameras for the first time.

Auto focus is performed using a stepper motor. The lens is equipped with an optical image stabilizer with an efficiency of up to 5 EV. When used with a Z9 camera equipped with a built-in stabilization system, the total gain increases to 5.5 EV.
