Nikon Z lens release plan updated

Nikon has updated its Z-mount lenses release schedule to reflect the release of the models unveiled yesterday and add several new lenses, including the 400mm, 600mm and 800mm fixed focal length telephoto lenses in the premium S-Line.

There is almost no information available on these lenses, with the exception of what Nikon said about the 400mm focal length model. The point is that this lens with a maximum aperture of f / 2.8 will be equipped with a built-in 1.4x teleconverter. In addition, it will be tried on a new coating that is said to provide the highest anti-reflective performance in the brand’s history.

Other future lenses will be classified as wide-angle lenses. This is a full-frame 26mm fixed focal length lens, a 24mm fixed focal length DX lens (as Nikon calls APS-C) and a 12-28mm variable focal length lens, also for DX format cameras.

Considering that Nikon already has lenses with focal lengths of 24mm and 28mm, the first of these models is of particular interest. The source suggests that it will be an unusual lens, such as an ultra-compact “pancake” or a specialized lens for video, 3D or VR. Let’s add our own guess to this: it is possible that this will be a lens with a tilt and shift function.
