Nikon’s revenue doubles in a year, and cameras are profitable again

Nikon, which ended its first quarter of the current fiscal year on June 30, released a corresponding quarterly report.

Revenue for the reporting period was $ 1.2 billion. Compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year, this figure increased by 104%. During the quarter, operating income was $ 181 million and net income was $ 144 million. Note that a year ago, the report recorded an operating and net loss.

Revenue for the Imaging Products Business, engaged in the production of photographic equipment, doubled over the year to $ 455 million, and the operating loss was replaced by an operating profit of $ 83.6 million. During the quarter, it sold approximately 840,000 interchangeable-lens cameras, 1.35 million lenses for them and 270,000 compact cameras.

The Precision Equipment Business division, which produces, in particular, equipment for semiconductor manufacturing, for the year grew two and a half times and reached 471 million dollars.

The Healthcare Business division increased its revenue by one and a half times, to 144 million dollars. The Components Business division increased its revenue 67% to $ 70 million, while the Industrial Metrology and Others division increased 37% to $ 61 million.
