Nikos Anastasiadis – Emmanuel Macron meeting next week

Anastasiadis is leaving for Egypt in order to participate in the Climate Summit (COP-27), the which will take place in Sharm El Sheikh on the two days of November 7 and 8. In addition to his intervention during the Synod, Mr. Anastasiadis will present the initiative undertaken by Cyprus to address climate change in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East, in an event he will co-organize with the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on the sidelines of the Summit.

On Wednesday, November 9, President Anastasiades will be in Israel, at the invitation of the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog, who will award the President of the Republic the country’s highest honor for his decisive contribution to the further deepening of the strategic cooperation between Cyprus and Israel.

This is the 15th honorary award that President Anastasiades will receive from heads of state and government. It is recalled that during his recent trip to the Vatican he was decorated by the Prime Minister of the Holy See Cardinal Pietro Parolin with the necklace of the Order of Pope Pius IX.

In Israel, President N. Anastasiades will also have a meeting with the winner of the recent elections in the country, Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom the President of the Republic, when Mr. Netanyahu was Prime Minister, had excellent cooperation.

After Israel, the President of the Republic will pay a working visit to Paris, where he will have a meeting with the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron.

With President Macron, the President of the Republic will discuss the Cyprus issue and the current situation, as well as the proposal for the EU to take an initiative, in cooperation with the UN, to restart the process of resolving the Cyprus issue.

During his stay in the French capital, President Anastasiades will also participate in the 5th Paris Forum for Peace, in the context of which issues related to efforts to maintain international cooperation for the benefit of world peace will be discussed, among other things. .
