The President of the Republic of Cyprus will be in Athens next Wednesday, February 1st Nikos Anastasiadis. As stated in a written statement by the director of the PtD press office, A. Iosif, in Athens, Mr. Anastasiadis will meet with Katerina Sakellaropoulou and Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
During his meetings the President of the Republic will discuss the Turkish provocationas recorded recently both in the Aegean and in Cyprus.
Turkey’s behavior is not consistent with a constructive attitude that could allow an honest discussion for a solution to the Cyprus problem. Both the President of the Republic and his interlocutors are expected to repeat their concern and indignation at Turkey’s behavior which cannot be accepted.
In the meetings, it will also be emphasized that no two-state solution to the Cyprus problem will be accepted, or a solution that will be outside the framework defined by the decisions of the United Nations Security Council or the European acquis. President N. Anastasiadis will thank Greece for its undivided support.
As part of the meeting between Mr. Anastasiadis and the Prime Minister of Greece, the Maximos Palace will signing of the Interstate Agreement for the mutual recognition of study titles by the ministers of Education, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromos and Education and Religious Affairs Nikis Kerameos.
Then Mr. Anastasiadis will visit the Eye and will lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction and upgrading of areas of Eastern Attica that were affected by the fires of 2018.
The upgrading and reconstruction of the areas will be done with financing from reimgs collected from the contribution of the Republic of Cyprus and from private donations. This is an important intervention that bears the stamp of the Cypriot people and the Republic of Cyprus. It is an act of solidarity and gratitude towards Greece. The cost of the projects will amount to approximately 12 million euros. The 11 million euros come from a donation from the Republic of Cyprus and the rest from donations from Cypriot citizens.
