THE CNN Specialist in technology, entrepreneurship and diversity, Nina Silva, spoke this Friday (11) about the case of YouTuber Bruno Ayub, known as Monark, who was disconnected from the Flow Podcast after defending the existence of a Nazi party in Brazil.
“It is important that we generate a deeper reflection in these cases: who dictates power and what guarantees collective well-being in our society?”, he asked.
“Because he [Monark] was he not fired on other occasions when he also naturalized hatred against minority groups? Racial slur is also a crime, but no action or investigation was conducted at that time.” CNN Specialist.
She was referring to the episode in October 2021 when Monark, on his Twitter account, questioned whether having a racist opinion was a crime. In this case, the Flow Podcast lost some sponsors, but the presenter did not suffer sanctions or punishments.
“Will justice and common sense only be established when there is economic and political power at stake?”, challenged Silva.
She highlighted the fact that people questioned freedom of opinion in this case, but stressed that opinion can also be framed as a crime if it spreads and encourages discriminatory acts.
“Especially ideas of extermination are propagated. Many people do not understand the danger of these speeches present in almost all social networks.”
Nina Silva also spoke about data from the NGO SaferNet Brasil that place the country as the 7th in the world in ranking on Nazism on the internet.
