Nine Italians injured after sailboat hits rocks in Spain

Nine Italians were injured, including two seriously, when the sailboat they were on ran aground on the island of Formentera during a storm in Spain’s Balearic archipelago. The Spanish meteorological service reported that the Balearic Islands were hit by heavy rain and strong wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h. Regional authorities announced that emergency services intervened in 140 incidents mainly related to falling trees and rescues at sea. In a post on Platform X (formerly Twitter), Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on citizens to be especially careful in areas facing dangerous weather phenomena – naming the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Catalonia and Murcia.
