Nine people die in Israeli attack on school in Gaza, doctors say

An Israeli airstrike on a school housing Palestinian families displaced from the Shati camp in Gaza City killed nine people and injured 20 others, many in critical condition, doctors said on Sunday (27).

People rushed to help rescue victims from the rubble after the attack.

The Israeli army said it was investigating the report of the school attack.

Three local journalists were among those killed at the school in Shati – Saed Radwan, head of digital media at Hamas Al-Aqsa television, Hanin Baroud and Hamza Abu Selmeya, according to Hamas media.

The media office of the Hamas-run Gaza government described the deaths as an “assassination.” This brings the number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israeli fire since October 7, 2023 to 180, he added.
