Nine people, including two children, injured in 'caustic substance' incident in south London

Nine people, including two children, were injured yesterday, Wednesday, in an incident with “caustic substance» in Clapham South Londonaccording to a statement from the Metropolitan Police of the British capital.

Three victims, a woman and her two young children, were transported to the hospital for treatment,” police said, adding that three other people – all adults – were transported in hospital, also with injuries.

Also, in addition to the three adults mentioned above, three police officers were also taken to the hospital with minor injurieswhile, according to the police, for now no arrests have been made.

“The fire service was called to a chemical incident on Lessar Avenue in Clapham this evening,” London Fire Brigade said in an emailed statement to Reuters last night.

“Crews used special equipment, to detect caustic substancewhich is believed to have been used in the incident,” the statement said without elaborating.
