The number of deaths in clashes with security forces in Bahia rose to nine after the death of Federal Police agent Lucas Caribé Monteiro, on Friday (15). The information was confirmed to CNN by the state Department of Public Security (SSP).
In a statement, the SSP also confirms the arrest of a drug dealer who already had an arrest warrant for murder. The ministry also stated that it seized three rifles, a carbine, a submachine gun, three pistols, a revolver, chargers, ammunition, radio communicators and parts of a stolen vehicle.

A federal police officer died on Friday morning during a confrontation in the Valéria region, in Salvador, Bahia.
The police officer was participating in Operation Fauda, conducted by the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (Ficco) of the Federal Police (PF) and the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA) against a criminal organization involved in drug and weapons trafficking, homicides and robberies.
According to information from the secretariat, two other agents, one from the PF and the other from the Civil Police, were injured. Four men suspected of being part of the criminal organization also died in the confrontation.
Lula lamented the death of the PF
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) lamented the death of PF agent Lucas Caribé Monteiro, during a combat operation against a criminal organization in Salvador, Bahia.
Through social media, Lula wished his condolences to the agent’s family and friends, and recalled that Lucas worked on his security, while he was still a candidate for President, and also after taking office.
“I received with deep sadness and indignation the death of Federal Police agent Lucas Caribé Monteiro de Almeida. He had been in the PF for 10 years, working to combat drug trafficking and arms trafficking”, highlighted Lula.
“Lucas was part of the team designated by the PF for my security in Bahia, during the electoral campaign and also now, in the Presidency. He fulfilled his mission with exemplary professionalism”, he adds.
