The rescue work for victims of heavy rains in Pernambuco already has the support of men and women from the Fire Department from nine Brazilian states, in addition to the military who already work in PE.
According to the National Council of the Military Fire Brigades of Brazil (Ligabom) and a survey of the CNN Agency teams from Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and Goiás join forces with the military in Pernambuco, in the search for survivors.
On Sunday morning (29), eleven firefighters from Minas Gerais embarked for Pernambuco taking resources such as detectors, lights and other specific equipment for the rescue of buried victims.
THE CNN the Commander-General of the Military Fire Brigade of Minas Gerais (CBMMG) and president of Ligabom, Colonel Edgard Estevo, stated that soldiers from Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, the Federal District, in addition to other states, are already ready to send teams, if necessary.
“At some point, we may move with new teams to Pernambuco, to reinforce the team that is there and, thus, we will have trained teams, with better training and specific equipment for search and rescue in the terrain that is the city of Recife. and other adjacent cities and thus provide the best service to the population”, says Estevo.
About Ligabom
Created in 2003, the Council is a Collegiate Body composed of the Military Fire Brigades from all over the country and a legitimate representative of this class with various bodies in all spheres, but especially with the Federation.
In 2019, the National Council of Fire Departments mobilized 14 corporations in the country to rescue victims in Brumadinho-MG, as a result of the fall of a dam. The mobilization was repeated at the end of 2021, after heavy rains in Bahia and, in March of this year, in the tragedy in Petrópolis, which left more than 230 dead.

Rio de Janeiro help
In an interview with CNN the commander of the Fire Department of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Monteiro, stated that the corporation is at the disposal of the government of Permambuco to assist in the rescue work for the victims.
According to Monteiro, availability has already been communicated to the National Fire Brigade (LIGABOM), which is responsible for distributing teams from other states.
“Since early Saturday night (28) we have made available military personnel, equipment, sniffer dogs and vehicles. Who is controlling all this is the president of the National League of Firefighters, who is also commander of the Fire Department of Minas Gerais. He’s working on demand. From the moment he needs it there, he requests to the nearest states. Several states have already sent it and our team is stationed waiting for the call”, says Leandro Monteiro.
Also according to Monteiro, the teams that are on standby are the same that acted in other natural disasters, such as the one that occurred in March of this year, in Petrópolis, in the Serrana Region of Rio, when 230 more people died victims of rains and landslides. .
“They are soldiers trained in disasters of collapsed structures. These soldiers have been at the disposal of the Search and Rescue Group (GBS), since Saturday (28), to board at any time”, he explains.
