Nintendo Switch finally gets support for AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones

Nintendo has released a long-awaited software update for the Nintendo Switch family of game consoles.

Nintendo Switch finally gets support for AirPods and other Bluetooth headphones

Update 13.0.0 brings a feature that has been dropped on Nintendo Switch since its release in 2017. After installing firmware 13.0.0, the set-top box has support for sound transmission via Bluetooth. You can connect devices such as headphones and speakers. That’s right, AirPods will do too. The only exceptions are some external microphones. Built-in microphones in, for example, Sony WF-1000XM4 or AirPods will work correctly.

Secondly, Nintendo has added an “Refresh Dock” switch in System Preferences. This innovation enables software updates on Nintendo Switch Docking Stations with a LAN port. Also, in the system settings in standby mode, the function “Keep wired connection in standby mode” appeared, and in the subsection “Connection status” you can check which frequency the wireless connection works at: 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz.

The update is available for Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and is also supported by the as-yet-to-be-released Switch OLED.
