Nintendo Switch Pro gets 7nm Nvidia Orin platform with performance on par with GeForce RTX 3050

According to the informant, the Switch Pro uses the Nvidia Orion T239 SoC, a modified version of the T234 platform designed for the vehicle’s autopilot system.

The SoC uses a 12-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU and an Ampere GPU with 2048 CUDA cores. The platform supports LPDDR5 RAM with a bandwidth of 200GB / s – almost 10 times more than the Tegra X1 of the current Switch. Based on the specifications, the GPU will demonstrate performance on par with the GeForce RTX 3050 used in laptops. True, the graphics processor in the GeForce RTX 3050 is 8nm, and the Orion T239 is 7nm, so its power consumption should be slightly lower. As for the use of such a powerful GPU for such a console, this is explained by the guarantee of high performance at 4K resolution.
