Nintendo Switch users are experiencing an issue with batteries draining too quickly.

Complaints appeared on the network that the set-top box, especially a relatively new one with an OLED screen, is very discharged overnight. The problem is related to the fact that the consoles must be in sleep mode. Also, quite a few owners have claimed that their devices can’t deliver decent battery life even during “normal” gaming.
Nintendo has yet to provide any official explanation or even acknowledge any battery issues in the Nintendo Switch consoles. However, the official support department on Nintendo’s Japanese site has suggested a number of steps that Switch owners can follow to get “optimal battery life”:
- Go to System Preferences > Sleep and set Auto Sleep to Never.
- Leave the Switch in portable mode without AC power.
- Launch the game and leave it on the main screen.
- Leave the Switch with a working screen.
- Wait until the battery runs out. The Switch display will turn off when the system is turned off.
- When the battery is completely drained, plug the Switch into a wall outlet to charge and leave it for at least 4 hours.
