A Moscow district court ruled this Friday (29) that the ninth suspect in the attack on a concert hall in Russia, in which more than 140 people were killed, must be detained until May 22, pending trial.
The Basmanny District Court said in a statement that Lutfulloi Nazrimad, a native of Tajikistan, was charged with a terrorist act.
Thus, the court agreed with the investigator's request that he be detained for retrial until May 22.
Additionally, Russia's Investigative Committee said the suspects claimed their actions were coordinated by voice messages from a man via Telegram.
“Following instructions from the coordinator, after committing the crime, the terrorists drove a car towards the Russian-Ukrainian border to cross it and reach Kiev to receive the reward promised to them,” the Investigative Committee alleged.
The agency noted that it is investigating the potential involvement of representatives of the Ukrainian special services in organizing and financing the attack.
Ukraine has denied having anything to do with the case, the deadliest in Russia in 20 years.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack and U.S. officials say they have intelligence showing the attack was carried out by the network's Afghan branch, the Islamic State Khorasan (Islamic State-K).
Russian investigators said on Thursday they had found evidence that the gunmen at the concert hall were linked to “Ukrainian nationalists”, a claim rejected by the United States as baseless propaganda.
