Nirmala Sitharaman: “India is preparing a balanced position of cryptocurrency regulators”

Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government is not planning a complete ban on cryptocurrencies, instead regulators are preparing a “very balanced position.”

During interview
Sitharaman told CNBC that rumors of a complete ban on cryptocurrencies in India are exaggerated. At the same time, the government is still discussing the regulation of digital assets:

“Yes, there are a lot of negotiations and discussions with the central bank. The regulator collects opinions on how to regulate unofficial currencies, cryptocurrencies. But we definitely want to leave some room for experiments that take place in the cryptocurrency world. ”

Nirmala Sitharaman noted that the regulator does not plan to limit the use of digital currencies as severely as previously reported in the media. The central bank is preparing a “very balanced” position.

“The world is developing rapidly along with technology. And we can’t pretend not to notice it. I can only say that we do not close ourselves off from new technologies, we always follow the experiments in the digital world, in the cryptocurrency world and in other areas, ”the Indian Minister of Finance emphasized.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing its own source, reported that India is preparing a complete ban on cryptocurrencies.
