The car will be built on the CMF-B platform, which was developed by Renault-Nissan specialists, while AvtoVAZ engineers will have to modify it on their own, since so far CMF-B is not designed for full-fledged SUVs.
Fears about the fact that the legendary “Niva”, known for its cross-country ability, will be made into an ordinary front-wheel drive SUV are not confirmed. Sources say that the creators of the new car are planning to make it more “off-road” than the Duster. At the same time, it will be equipped with a high ground clearance and an all-wheel drive system.
The first image of the new Niva was published by the Russian automaker at the beginning of the year. The manufacturer plans to keep the features of the original VAZ-2121 in the shape of the new car.
It is also known that AvtoVAZ will release four new cars on the new CMF-B platform by 2025, including the new Lada Niva and the crossover of the C-SUV segment.
