Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko said “no part of Ukraine should be on the negotiating table” as the country continues its resistance despite Russian bombing of cities across the country on Monday.
Vasylenko, a member of Parliament for the Holos Party who was elected in 2019, was speaking to CNN after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine was unwilling to give up territory in eastern Ukraine to end the war with Russia.
“Ukraine is writing its own new history and it is also writing the world’s new history as it goes along,” Vasylenko told CNN Prague New Day, Czech Republic.
“If, under any circumstances, Ukraine is forced to give up territories, it will be a risk not only for Ukrainians living in Ukraine, but for the entire world,” he added.
“Because then a message will be sent out loud and clear to the aggressors that it is okay to take land, it is okay to start aggressive wars and terrorize the civilian population, because no one will do anything about it.”
She also said that Russia committed “multiple war crimes” during the course of the war in Ukraine, an allegation made by several Ukrainian officials that the Kremlin has denied.
After the invasion of Russia nearly two months ago, Vasylenko told CNN who had practiced shooting and armed himself with an AK-47 and a pistol.
“Is it still not clear that Russia is the one in the wrong here? That Russia has committed a crime of aggression?” she said.
