No “serious irregularities” were identified in Peru’s presidential election

The second round of the presidential election in Peru Last Sunday, in which Keiko Fujimori and Pedro Castillo took part, was a “positive election process” in which there were no “serious irregularities”, the head of the observer mission of the Organization of American States (OAK) said on Friday.

“The mission did not identify any serious irregularities,” said a preliminary report led by former Paraguayan Foreign Minister Reuven Ramirez.

Ms. Fuchimori, the populist right-wing candidate in the election – for the third time – who according to official results has so far lost by a margin of about 60,000 votes, on Wednesday denounced “signs of fraud” and demanded the cancellation of 200,000 ballots cast in 802 constituencies. .
