Nomadic life? Where to buy or rent a Tiny House

They are environmentally friendly, they are cheap and can be placed anywhere: they are the Tiny House, small houses so loved by digital nomads. Even Ikea has seen fit to ride the wave of smart working and the desire to travel by combining the two.

The Ikea house on wheels has an area of 17.37 square meters. It was designed by the Swedish furniture company for Tiny Home Project, characterized by sustainable construction that respects the environment. It has a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom.

Furnished with Ikea furniture (obviously), it offers minimalist spaces, ecological and resistant materials.

RV builder Escape built the trailer into a custom view of its Vista Boho XL model, with solar panels, composting toilets, and on-demand heated water supply, powered by the trailer.

“Ikea’s Positive People and Planet strategy is our roadmap,” said the Swedish company’s head of sustainability, Jennifer Keesson, “we want to meet the needs of today’s generations without compromising those of future generations».

In the kitchen you can find the series Kungsbacka, made with recycled materials, while the living room has a folding table north. The house can accommodate up to 2 people. The original version, on the other hand, has a sofa bed that offers space for more occupants. Then there are LED lights, solar panels on the roof and thermal panels.

The house can be attached to a vehicle, such as a van, to be taken anywhere.

The price for this mini house? About 40,300 euros while the version with Ikea furniture is offered for almost 54,000 euros.

The exterior includes a Japanese-inspired burnt wood paneling known as “Shou Sugi Ban”. The interior, on the other hand, has walls painted in white to give a feeling of spaciousness.

The public can explore the house virtually and buy furniture or gadgets inside. On the site you can also take a quiz on sustainability to determine its impact on the earth, with recommended actions to create a more sustainable daily life and personalized links to IKEA products based on the results.
