Nord Stream ‘Sabotage’ Thriller: Concern After Leaks – CIA Attacks Warning

They cause concern the major leaks in the Baltic Sea from two Russian gas pipelines;who are at the center of the energy confrontation with Europe. It is unclear who may be behind the leaks first reported on Monday in the Nord Stream pipeline that Russia and its European partners spent billions of dollars to build.as reported by the agency Reuters.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday that the Nord Stream pipeline leaks were caused by “sabotage” and warned that there would be “the strongest possible response” if active energy infrastructure in the EU was attacked.

“I spoke with (Danish Prime Minister Mete) Frederiksen about the act of sabotage in Nord Stream,” wrote Ursula von der Leyen in a post on Twitter, adding that it is a priority to investigate the case to “shed light on the exact circumstances and causes of the leak”.

Russia, which has cut gas supplies to Europe after Western sanctions were imposed over Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, also said sabotage was a possibility and that the leaks undermined the continent’s energy security, Reuters reports.

Meanwhile, strong explosions in the areas where leaks were observed in the Nord Stream pipeline, seismologists in Sweden and Denmark recorded on Monday (26/9), as reported by the Swedish National Seismological Center (SNSN) of Uppsala University. At the same time, videos that saw the light of day show the sea foaming.

The CIA has warned since the summer of possible attacks on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines

The American intelligence agency CIA had warned Germany for weeks about possible attacks on natural gas pipelines passing through the Baltic, claims the German magazine Spiegel.

The German government was briefed by the CIA over the summer, said the magazine, which did not name its imgs. Berlin, it is noted in the publication, assumes that the leaks in the pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 are due to “targeted attack”.

A spokesman for the German government declined to comment on the information, Spiegel added, according to the Athens News Agency.
