Nord Stream: Two ships “secretly” passed near the pipeline a few days before the leak

A few days before the leakage in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipelines two ships with their radio beacons turned off appeared within three miles of the gas pipelines. This is reported by the website Wired, which cites an analysis made by the company SpaceKnow.

According to analysis by satellite data tracking company SpaceKnow, the two dark craft, each 95 to 130 meters long, passed within several miles of the leak points. Nord Stream 2. “We detected some dark craft, meaning craft of significant size, passing through the region of interest,” said Jerry Jawornicki, CEO and co-founder of SpaceKnow. “They had their tracking sensors turned off, meaning there was no information about their movement, and they were trying to keep their location information and their general information hidden from the public,” adds Jawornicki.

The ships became possible to locate after analyzing pictures taken by some satellites.

Once SpaceKnow identified the ships, it reported its findings to NATO officials investigating the Nord Stream incidents. According to Jarovitsky, NATO representatives asked the company for additional information.

On September 26, two sections of the Nord Stream 1 natural gas pipeline leaked gas in Denmark’s exclusive economic zone, northeast of the island of Bornholm. Then a leak occurred in one of the lines of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in Denmark’s exclusive economic zone in the southeast of the island. Seismological stations in Sweden and Denmark recorded strong undersea explosions in the same area.

The Russian Defense Ministry had announced that the British Navy “participated in the planning, provision and execution of a terrorist attack in the Baltic Sea on September 26 to undermine the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipelines.” The Russian president Vladimir Putin had blamed the US, claiming it had an interest in sabotaging the Nord Stream pipeline.
