The end of the year is approaching and the searches for New Year’s holiday travel stay warm. With the arrival of December, a month linked to vacations, get-togethers and festivities, it is not difficult to find those who are planning itineraries, whether national or international.
Within the country, the North East stands out among the most sought after regions by Brazilians for the period. According to Kayak metasearch data shared with CNN Travel & Gastronomy , Recife comes out ahead among the 10 most visited destinations by travelers.
the capital of Bahia savior comes second and the Rio de Janeiro appears soon after. Fortaleza and Maceió appear respectively among the top five destinations.
International travel is also a target of the public. Outside Brazilian lands, Lisbon in Portugal, appears at the top of searches.
then comes Buenos Aires in Argentina, a country that has received many Brazilians: the demand for trips to the main cities in the territory neighboring Brazil increased 234% in the second half of this year compared to the same period in 2021, as shown by Decolar data.
Miami, Orlando and Paris complete the five most visited international destinations among Brazilians according to Kayak data obtained by CNN Viagem & Gastronomia.
The search period analyzed by the metasearcher was from June 20 to August 20, based on data from the platform for searches for flights on the New Year’s holiday.

heated second semester
The travel table shows some changes in travel intentions for the entire second semester, but points to trends for the coming months and holidays.
Decolar data based on searches for tour packages on the platform’s sales channels (website and app) reveal that the city of Rio de Janeiro is the most searched for the entire period, followed by Porto Alegre and Maceió .
Porto Seguro, Salvador, Recife, São Paulo, Jericoacoara, Goiânia and Florianópolis complete the ranking.
“The demand for trips for the second semester is heated. In addition to the high season months – July and December -, shipments in August and September are also noteworthy”, says Daniela Araújo, director of Air Products at Decolar, to CNN.
On the international scene, Buenos Aires , cancun and Santiago are the three most desired destinations among Brazilian travelers who use the platform. Bariloche, Punta Cana, Paris, Miami, Rome, Montevideo and San Andrés round off the search.
