North Korea fired two short-range missiles from a train platform yesterday, the state news agency confirmed today, in its third weapons test since the beginning of the year, despite new US sanctions.
The tests were carried out to “check and evaluate” the capabilities of this military corps, according to KCNA, the official Pyongyang news agency.
Yesterday’s launch came after Washington’s decision on Wednesday to impose new financial sanctions on five North Korean nationals following previous missile tests, which were presented as supersonic.
Friday’s launch “showed great flexibility and increased success rate,” according to the KCNA.
South Korea’s national defense headquarters announced yesterday that it had detected and monitored the launch of two short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) to the east, towards the sea, from North Pyongyang province.
