North Korea denounces US ‘aggression’

North Korea on Saturday condemned “aggressive moves” by Washington and Seoul, vowing revenge, as it celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the outbreak of the Korean War, at a time of growing tension on the Korean peninsula, Reuters reported.

Amid concerns that North Korea might be preparing to conduct its first nuclear test in five years, South Korean President Yoon Sook Yol and US President Joe Biden agreed in May to develop more US weapons if that is the case. necessary to deter the North.

The state news agency KCNA reported on Saturday that some labor groups had met to “swear revenge on the US imperialists”, blaming the United States for starting the 1950-1953 Korean War.

The war ended in a truce instead of a peace treaty, which means that US-led UN forces are still technically at war with North Korea.

According to the KCNA, Pyongyang denounced Washington for what it called “aggressive moves” with South Korea and Japan, and said the US push to develop “strategic means” in the South was aimed at provoking new war.

Strategic assets may typically include aircraft carriers, long-range bombers, or missile submarines.
