North Region is leader in research on BBB in the country

According to data collected by CNN on the Google Trends platform, the North of Brazil is the region that most searches for “Big Brother Brasil” in the country since 2004. The ranking of states that most search for the reality show is made up of Amapá, Amazonas, Acre and Pará, in this order.

The Northeast region is in second place, with the states Maranhão, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Alagoas in the following positions.

According to data collected through the platform over the last 20 years, the years 2020 and 2021 are those with the highest number of searches for the reality show. It is worth mentioning that the North region also led the search ranking applying a filter that corresponds to the last five years.

The value of 100 present in the search graph represents the highest peak in popularity of a term. A value of 50 means half the popularity and a score of 0 means there was not enough data about the term.

The years 2020 and 2021 were marked by the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. At that time, the reality show saw its audience grow and broke records for audience engagement. In 2020, participants Manu Gavassi and Felipe Prior faced a historic wall that had 1.5 billion votes. The brother's elimination ended up entering the Guinness Book, a book of records, with the title of the highest number of public votes received by a television program.

In 2021, the record was for the participant with the biggest rejection in BBB history, with Karol Conká leaving with 99.17% of the votes.

Participants from the North region

This year was also notable specifically for the North region, which leads the polls. This is because it was the only part of the country that did not have any participants. At BBB 20, the region was represented by Hadson, from Pará.

Gleice Damasceno, from Acre, was the only participant from the North region to win the program in all its editions, in 2019.

It is worth mentioning that BBB24 includes three participants from the region. Alane and Marcus Vinícius, from Belém, in Pará and Isabelle, from Manaus, in Amazonas. The latter also received great mobilization from the state to enter the program, as she became one of the 26 participants through public voting, with 60.26% of the votes.

In total, despite being the largest region searching for “Big Brother Brazil”, the North only had 16 participants.
